IB Pet Inc. is 100% owned by founder Lori Smith of San Diego. Lori’s passion for animals started at a very young age. Her interest in pet nutrition stemmed from caring for her two golden retrievers, Tanner and Cali. As a puppy, Tanner suffered from stomach problems and skin allergies. After countless visits to the vet with no prevail Lori started to do her own research on pet nutrition. She found she was able to remedy many of Tanner’s issues with a better diet. At the time, raw food pet food diets were hard to find. Most raw feeders did meal prep at home which is a lot of work. The few pet food makers that offer whole food and raw food options were not available at pet supply chains. Lori wanted to create a place where pet owners could come to find only quality pet food and supplies. In the spring of 2009, at the age of 26, Lori opened the doors to the Imperial Beach IB Pet store. Today she has 4 stores serving San Diego.

Lucy Postins, Founder of The Honest Kitchen
The Honest Kitchen was created by Lucy Postins in her very own kitchen in San Diego CA in 2002. At the age of 27, Lucy brought the pet food industry the world's first truly human-grade pet food. Lucy didn't set out to create a huge company, she just wanted to feed her dog better. She quickly learned the difference that a fresher, whole food diet could make in her pets and decided to turn her recipes into a local business.
The Honest Kitchen was the first dehydrated pet food that Lori brought in to IB Pet. Lucy also living in San Diego has visited IB Pet to teach cooking classes. Today, Lucy serves as Founder, Spokesperson, and Chief Integrity Officer to ensure that The Honest Kitchen continues to raise the bar in pet food quality, safety, and integrity. We are very proud to offer THK at IB Pet.
Stephanie Boone, Creator of Wondercide
Wondercide was created by female entrepreneur, Stephanie Boone. After her beloved dog Luna suffered from pesticide poisoning caused by commonly prescribed flea-and-tick medication Stephanie set out on a mission to find a better alternative. Unfortunately her hunt for a safe and effective solution in the current market came up short. Stephanie took the knowledge she discovered and began to experiment with natural ingredients and Wondercide was created! In 2016, Stephanie appeared on ABC’s business competition, where she earned the highest valuation for a female-run company in the show’s history of $500,000. Stephanie's products went from being developed in a her garage to becoming an industry leader with this support.
To this day Wondercide is Lori's top recommended product for natural flea control at IB Pet. Over the years Lori has created several How To Videos on YouTube demonstrating to customers how to control fleas naturally using Wondercide and other natural remedies.
Kat Donatello, Founder of Austin and Kat
Last but not least, IB Pet is very proud to offer Austin and Kat products to our customers. Founded by Kat Donatello, an athlete and business leader in the endurance sports industry, Kat set out in 2014 to create a holistic and all-natural product that would help her dogs with their health, well-being, and various ailments.
What started as a project in her home kitchen in Maine, experimenting with various recipes and CBD oils to create a wellness dog biscuit for her pets, quickly blossomed into a national business that was helping not only her animals, but those of friends, and quickly the public.
Austin and Kat can be found in retail stores, vet clinics, and boarding and training facilities across the country, and has helped thousands of pets all across the country live their very best lives.
